Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique in which fine needles are used to stimulate specific points on the body to move “qi” or energy and restore health and balance. Acupuncture is part of a complete, holistic medical system that is rooted in classical Chinese texts. It includes diagnostics as well as other modalities such as herbs, cupping, moxibustion, qi gong, manual therapies and even modernizations such as laser therapy and electrical stimulation.

  • Acupuncture treats a wide range of acute and chronic ailments.
  • Acupuncture provides safe, drug-free pain relief with little or no side-effects.
  • Acupuncture addresses the underlying cause of disease and illness as well as the overlying symptoms.
  • Acupuncture is an effective, holistic approach to the treatment of disease and illness- addressing body, mind and spirit.
  • Acupuncture is an excellent preventative medicine- it helps people attain health as well as maintain it.

The needles used for acupuncture are stainless steel, sterilized, single-use disposable needles that are so thin that more than a dozen of them will fit into a hypodermic needle. Upon insertion, the sensation varies – sometimes feeling like a bug bite sometimes feeling like a dull ache or tingling or nothing at all. Some patients feel bursts of “qi” or energetic movement along the channels. First time patients are often surprised by how relaxing the treatment is and many people fall asleep on the table.
